At a Special Meeting held on February 27, the Onteora Board of Education voted to approve a resolution providing for an exemption, pursuant to New York Real Property Tax Law § 458-a, from real property taxes for qualifying residential real property owned by eligible veterans, their spouses, and the un-remarried surviving spouses of veterans. If you are already receiving the Alternative Veterans’ Exemption on your Town/County tax bills, you need not re-apply, as the exemption will be applied to your school tax bill automatically.
