Letter from the Superintendent about Emergency Closing Days
February 18, 2021
Dear Onteora Families,
In an email I sent out in December, I noted that “If we come to the point where we have used all our emergency closing days, we would then consider pivoting, during an emergency, to remote instruction instead of closing school.”
As of today, we have used all of our snow days. We have been monitoring this situation and our faculty is prepared to pivot to remote learning if we are unable to have in-person instruction due to inclement weather.
Concerns about access and equity remain at the forefront of our minds. As we all are aware, in our community, when we experience inclement weather there are often internet or power outages. We are all understanding of the issues that we experience in this rural community. Our hope is to provide continuity of instruction for our students.
We appreciate your partnership and understanding as we make our way toward spring.
