Our District

The Onteora Central School District encompasses approximately 300 square miles, serving 45,000 residents in the townships of Shandaken, Olive, Woodstock, West Hurley and parts of Marbletown and Lexington.  The District has three elementary schools and one 7-12 grade middle/high school complex.  Approximately 1200 students attend the schools including approximately 600 in the Middle/High School, approximately 200 in Bennett Elementary, approximately 200 in Phoenicia Elementary, and apporximately 200 in Woodstock Elementary.

Onteora has a wealth of resources to offer from one end of the District to the other. Woodstock, within its environs, is a renowned center for cultural experiences in fine arts, music, and theatre groups, and a similar cultural richness has developed in the other towns within the District. The International Festival of the Voice draws audiences from far and wide to Phoenicia to experience opera.  There are numerous noteworthy and renowned restaurants throughout the District and opportunities to participate in outdoor adventures exist in all areas within Onteora.  You can walk, run, hike, bike, fish, ski, and probably any other outdoor activity that you can think of while you are here! The mix of social and cultural diversity forms a stimulating educational environment in which our students grow, learn, and thrive.
