Superintendent's Letter January 11, 2022
January 11, 2022
Dear Onteora Community:
Effective tomorrow, Wednesday, January 12, 2022, as a District, we will be shifting to a 100% remote learning model for the remainder of the school week (January 12 - January 14).
We will, however, be able to transport our students who attend out-of-district programs, as well as our Ulster BOCES Career and Tech students. If you have a question about transportation for your child’s out of district placement program, please contact transportation at transportation@onteora.k12.ny.us or call (845) 657-2537.
Our District goal is to always provide the safest and most robust learning environment for our students. The decision is being made based on staffing limitations and being able to maintain the safest learning environment for students. All instruction for remote learning will shift to our Google platform, including the use of Google Classroom and Google Meet.
As of today, our sports teams will continue to practice and compete as scheduled. This is optional for students whose parents can provide transportation for their students to practice. The late sports bus will be running daily for transportation home. Coaches will be reaching out to their players and reiterating safety protocols. Other extra-curricular groups, such as clubs, will not be meeting at this time.
If you are in need of access to meals during this time please fill out this form. We will provide further specifics at a later time. You can also email Christine Downs at cdowns@onteora.k12.ny.us.
It is our intention to return to full in-person learning on Tuesday, January 18th, 2022 as Monday, January 17th is a holiday and schools are closed. If there are any changes to this plan, we will notify you as soon as possible.
Please remember, if your student is experiencing COVID -19 symptoms, you can register with Village Apothecary for a Free rapid antigen test at this registration link.
We thank you for your continued partnership and flexibility as we work together to support our students.
Sincerely,
Marystephanie Corsones
Interim Superintendent
