R. Smith

Rory Smith is an Onteora School District resident and Town of Olive (Shokan) homeowner since 2002. He grew up in Red Hook, Duchess County and served in the army in Southern California, where he met his wife in 1996. After 20 years as a self-employed carpenter/contractor, Rory took employment with the CWC in Margaretville in 2020 and then in 2023 with the DEP in Shokan. He is a father of two children who attended Onteora K-12, (daughter, Kyra and son, Corbin). Rory wants to be involved in the community and feels there is no better way than to help the school district lay the foundation for a sustainable future that ensures kids of today and years to come enjoy the same educational programs and excellence in staff that his own children have benefited and thrived from.
