It’s All In The Planning! Workshop Descriptions
Nuts and Bolts of College: College Administrators will talk about the shifting rights and responsibilities of students with disabilities, how to prepare for them before embarking on a college career and how to manage them after college starts. New for 2021! We will share the language associated with learning in a remote environment, the varying “modalities” colleges are now using to deliver courses, i.e., the difference between remote, on-line, hybrid, etc.
Student Panel: Current college students who have been through the transition process will answer questions about their experiences in moving from high school to college, what exists in terms of academic supports and how to ask for them. Questions from the audience will be welcomed.
Time Management: Students will receive information on how to manage the pace and rigor of a college schedule. New for 2021! Managing the learning environment has become a student responsibility. Learn from our students how they managed their surroundings to learn effectively.
Opening Doors with Assistive Technology: This session will describe what technology exists on college campuses, or is available for students to own, and how to access them. New for 2021! How students may employ technology on their home computers while learning remotely.
