Teen dating is the subject of an upcoming presentation by the Ulster County Family and Child Advocacy Center. The event will take place at Onteora High School/Middle School’s Harry Simon Auditorium on March 1 from 6:30-7:30 PM.
The presentation aims to help parents and guardians talk to their teenage children about dating, including how they can make good choices and avoid potential pitfalls, like dating-related violence/abuse.
Attendees can expect to learn about a variety of topics, including “the intimate partner violence continuum”—and how to determine where they are on that continuum. They’ll also learn about teenagers’ developing brains, and how that knowledge can be used to help guide teens as they navigate the road of life. Information about resources and options—for couples, individuals, and bystanders—will also be available.
The event is open to Ulster County High School and Middle School students, parents, guardians, and community members.
