Fully remote 4-21 to 4-23

 April 20, 2021

Subject: Fully Remote April 21st through 23, 2021

Dear Onteora Families,

As a follow up to the situation we informed you of yesterday, we have been notified that there are a significant number of First Student (our transportation contractor) staff members that are required to quarantine for the remainder of the week. As a result, our K-12 classrooms will remain fully remote through Friday, April 23, 2021.  We will, however, be able to transport our students who attend out-of-district programs, as well as our Ulster BOCES Career and Tech students. A complete list of the programs that we are able to transport to can be found here: (https://bit.ly/3gpKBYB).

We anticipate that we will resume our in-person learning model in our buildings on Monday, April 26th.

Athletic practices have been canceled for today and will be canceled tomorrow based on the weather forecast. Optional practices have been scheduled for those families that can provide their own transportation for their children to and from practice on Thursday and Friday. I anticipate that coaches will communicate with athletes regarding practice.

We are working with the management of First Student, the UC Department of Health, and our District Medical Director. There are no students that require quarantine in this situation based on the guidelines that we follow to establish direct contact. We will continue to follow all appropriate safety guidelines and inform you of any changes as we move forward.

Our meal pickup will take place tomorrow as scheduled. If you would like to opt to pick up  meals for your child, please sign up by 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning using this form:

We recognize that this unavoidable situation may be a considerable inconvenience for families. We appreciate your continued patience and understanding.

Sincerely,

Victoria McLaren

Superintendent of Schools
