Superintendent's Letter December 23, 2021 - COVID testing kits available during the break and  free COVID testing event at Onteora High School January 9, 2022

December 23, 2021

Dear Onteora Community,

The winter break is upon us. We want to reiterate our commitment to continue to provide in-person instruction for all students five days a week and to provide as many extra-curricular activities as possible while continuing to keep everyone safe.

Just as it has been the regular practice with our older students, I have asked our elementary principals and teachers to ensure that all students have their Chromebooks to bring home in case they need to utilize them as a learning tool due to any potential quarantine.

Although school is not in session, the daily reports we receive from the County reporting COVID positivity will be monitored and appropriate actions will be taken. School not being in session does not impact our protocols which will continue to be followed.

We ask each of you to renew your commitment by continuing to partner with us by supporting our COVID protocols.  Please be sure to utilize the healthservices@onteora.k12.ny.us email for any COVID-related communications. This email will be monitored over the entire winter break.

As you are aware, the Ulster County Department of Health has free Rapid Home Antigen Tests to all interested Onteora families for their children. If you would like a free Rapid test kit, and have not yet received one for your child, they are available for pick up at our Boiceville Administration Office from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm on 12/28/21 and 12/29/21.

Please also remember that the District is hosting (in collaboration with Village Apothecary) a FREE COVID Testing Event on January 9, 2022 11:30-1:00 pm in the Middle/ High School gym  for participants ages 2 and older. To sign up please visit Dr. Smoller’s website at  https://drnealsmoller.com/covid/onteoracovid/. The sign up is listed under Upcoming Events.

Thank you for your continued partnership as we work together to keep everyone safe.

Have a wonderful winter holiday and stay safe!

Sincerely,

Marystephanie Corsones                    Stephanie Laffin
