Dear Onteora Families,

As you are aware, we had an unusual continuation of weather-related conditions on Friday when we had early morning wind storms which brought down power lines and limbs which did not allow us to transport our students safely to school. Additionally, power was lost on our Boiceville campus and in other locations throughout the district.

We have built six snow days into our school calendar for the current school year.  As of today, we have used five of our six snow days. It appears that we have the potential for a significant snow event later this week. If this is the case, we will utilize our last snow day. If we come to the point where we have used all of our emergency closing days, then we would consider shifting to remote instruction instead of closing school assuming that we do not experience internet or power outages that our community can experience during inclement weather. Our hope is to provide continuity of instruction for our students.

As always, if it is necessary for the District to close due to inclement weather and power outages, families and staff will be notified via email, text, and/or phone calls.

Any changes to our regular schedule will also be posted on the district website, and social media accounts.

Thank you for your continued partnership with us as we collaboratively work to provide our Onteora students with the best learning experiences in a safe environment.

Sincerely,

Marystephanie Corsones
Interim Superintendent
