David Wallis is the parent of a student at Onteora Middle School. Since 2017, he has served as managing director of the Economic Hardship Reporting Project, an award-winning nonprofit newsroom. Previously, David served as opinion editor of the Forward and deputy editor of The New York Observer, where he oversaw education coverage. David, who has contributed to The New Yorker, The Washington Post and The New York Times and edited two critically acclaimed books, Killed: Great Journalism Too Hot To Print and Killed Cartoons: Casualties from the War on Free Expression. David graduated from the Gallatin School at New York University.
